The Schlichte Carree in Steinhagen is easy to find: After all, the oversized jar can be seen from almost the entire town center.
Kruke? This is the name for the unmistakable clay bottle in which the juniper schnapps "Steinhäger" is still bottled today. And of course, it has its origins here in  Steinhagen. The eponymous name "Schlichte" can be traced back to the long distillery history at this location. But the Schlichte Carree is more than just the place with the jug on the roof: a variety of cultural events take place in the inner courtyard, regularly turning the Schlichte Carree into a cultural venue. The Schlichte Carree has much more to offer. Because as the original French nickname Carree already reveals, there are many more institutions hidden behind the doors of this rectangular building complex than you would expect at first glance.
