The hangar was opened in May 2011 after just nine months of construction on 1,800 square meters and has been a popular destination at the airport ever since. The hangar is run by the "Quax-Verein zur Förderung von historischem Fluggerät e. V." (Quax Association for the Promotion of Historic Aircraft), which is dedicated to the preservation and reconstruction of numerous interesting vintage aircraft. The focus here is on having fun: screwing, talking shop, meeting, traveling and flying, because the Quax idea is: out of the museum and onto the runway! Aircraft should fly!
Always something new!
The QUAX club operates a fleet of more than 20 of its own vintage aircraft, is working on several parallel projects to restore historic aircraft and also houses numerous vintage aircraft belonging to its members in the hangar. As the aircraft on display are airworthy examples, they may also be "flown out" at times. Take the opportunity to see the vintage aircraft up close and learn about their history.
