The current building was erected by the brewery owner Heinrich Dütemeyer in 1889 by the Detmold master builder Knollmann; parts of an older building were preserved at the rear. In 1898, Dütemeyer added the neighboring summer theater, which was reopened in 2003.
The jug building from 1889 is a richly designed half-timbered historicist building with corner turrets and an open loggia in Rhenish half-timbered forms. It was modeled on the historic "Altes Haus" restaurant in Bacharach am Rhein. Inside the Neues Krug, a magnificent buffet with a bar in the neo-Renaissance style and several large-format oil paintings depicting the Hermann monument and historical scenes have been preserved.
The Neues Krug is currently home to the Thai restaurant "Ban Phaithong"
