Parklandschaft Friedrichstal

Park/gardens
Following the example of the Palace of Versailles built by the French Sun King Louis XIV, Count Friedrich Adolf zur Lippe had the Friedrichstal Canal built in 1701, which was to be the foundation stone for the Friedrichstal gardens.
In this way, a navigable path was to connect the princely residence palace with the pleasure palace planned at the gates of Detmold. The Friedrichstal park fell into disrepair due to a lack of funds until it was redesigned into an English landscape park in the 19th century.
