Church
The church houses one of the most beautiful baroque altars in Germany.

The former Jesuit Church of St. Francis Xavier was donated to the Paderborn Jesuits by Prince-Bishop Ferdinand von Fürstenberg (1661-1683). Provost Dietrich von Fürstenberg, the later Prince-Bishop (1585-1618), had brought them to Paderborn in 1580 and left them the abandoned Minorite monastery on the Kamp. In 1596, they began to build a new branch there, which, supplemented by the building wings of the grammar school and the university, eventually expanded into a large complex.

The church, which was rebuilt between 1949 and 1958, underwent several stages of exterior restoration between 1980 and 1988. This was followed by the restoration of the interior in 1995/96. However, the restoration of the former Jesuit church was not actually completed until the complete reconstruction of the baroque high altar, which was destroyed in the Second World War, began in 1989 and was completed in 2003.
