LWL Prussian Museum Minden

The LWL Prussian Museum aims to inspire visitors with its offers for the multi-layered - and often unexpected - aspects of Prussian (Westphalian) history and thus provides sustainable educational and cultural work.
At the authentic location, the 1829 defensive barracks in the centre of Minden, the theme of Prussia in Westphalia is to be brought to life through new and unexpected approaches.

The LWL Prussia Museum Minden is the starting point for the "Prussia in Westphalia" network founded in 2016.

The aim of the network is to make it possible to experience the theme of Prussia in Westphalia and beyond. Tourist partners and representatives from over 40 historical museums, industrial and open-air museums, monuments, event locations and scientific institutions have come together.

In future, museum and tourist offers are to be developed in order to go beyond the usual clichés and follow in the footsteps of the Prussians in Westphalia.

Book your exhibition tour for one of the thematic focuses
- Colonial Minden

Or book your city tour "Colonial Minden"

The "Colonial Minden" tour is based on the exhibition "Black and white. Prussia and Colonialism" and visits the places in Minden that are linked to the exhibits and stories in the exhibition. In this way, previously undiscovered traces and references to colonialism in the cityscape are made visible. The "Colonial Minden" exhibition tour is thus relocated to the city, so to speak.
