Monument
A tribute to gymnastics father Jahn
In 1907, a monument in honor of Friedrich Ludwig Jahn (1852-1952), also known as Turnvater Jahn, was erected on Stiftberger Straße, which was renamed Jahnstraße in this context.

Four Herford gymnastics clubs came up with the idea. The bronze plaque was melted down in 1942. In 1955, a bronze bust created by Alfred Reichel was erected at a slightly different location. The sandstone plinth was designed by sculptor H.P. Hinkeldey.
