Monument
The bronze sculpture in the shape of a cog is a reminder of Herford's membership of the Hanseatic League
The base and the trough of the Hanseatic fountain from 1990 are made of grained brown-black granite, the top is made of bronze. The orbit shows, among other things, merchants taking the Hanseatic oath, market activity, a procession of Westphalian Hanseatic merchants and the city skyline of Herford.

The fountain, which was financed by donations, was created by the sculptor Heinz Spilker.
