Historischer Wehrturm Bad Wünnenberg

Historic site
This 20 m high monument from the 13th century is part of the medieval town fortifications and is located in the oldest part of Wünnenberg: in the so-called "upper town" near the church.
The mighty defensive tower was intended to protect the townspeople from attacks from the south. The tower was rebuilt true to the original by the local heritage association in Wünnenberg from the original stones, which had been used in houses in the meantime, and opened to the public. A total of around 1,200 tons of stone were used.

A small historical exhibition can be found inside the reconstruction. A medieval garden with old cultivated plants and medicinal herbs has been created at the foot of the tower. From time to time, the tower and the surrounding garden are used for events, concerts and readings. Information on the events can be found at www.kuk-bad-wuennenberg.de.
