Mill
The restored Hudenbeck estate water mill (dating back to 1529) is located in the spa park in Bad Holzhausen.

The estate water mill is open every Sunday (from Whitsun to the "Open Monument Day" in September) from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. The Heddinghauser Kern bakery, Tel.: 05742/ 92 01 67, in Bad Holzhausen invites you to enjoy coffee and cake "just like in grandma's day".

Documentary mention: 1529, a map found in 1779 from the Holzhausen estate area shows the mill with two water wheels.

The current building was newly erected in July 1888. Grinding operations ceased in 1958. Over the years, all the mill equipment was removed and disposed of. An application to demolish the dilapidated mill building was not approved by the town of Preußisch Oldendorf. The town was able to take over the mill in its former state free of charge and the first millstones were acquired in the spring of 1977. Four years later, some mill parts were purchased from the Bünder mill. Some items were later installed, while others were set up in the mill (plansifter, throwing sifter, roller mill and much more). The result was a small "mill museum" that vividly illustrates the development of the milling trade.

On May 31, 1983, the Hudenbeck estate water mill was put back into operation. Since then, it has been another attraction for numerous spa and recreation guests as well as day visitors. It was the first operational watermill on the Mühlenstraße in the Minden-Lübbecke district.

The mill was severely damaged by a fire on September 20, 1985. Valuable mill parts were destroyed. Work began immediately to repair the fire damage.

On April 27, 1986, the mill was put back into operation.

The Holzhausen-Hudenbeck estate water mill is located directly next to the Haus des Gastes (former Holzhausen estate) with its large spa gardens in the spa town of Bad Holzhausen. The two-storey half-timbered building with three-storey crane construction fits perfectly into the overall ensemble and helps to preserve the face of the local landscape.

The manor water mill is managed by the mill group of the Bad Holzhausen Tourist Association and the town of Preußisch Oldendorf, the sponsor of the manor water mill.
