The fascinating art of glassmaking: preserving traditions and experiencing craftsmanship
Few crafts are more captivating to viewers than the art of glassmaking: the glowing, fizzing and steaming, the distortion using tongs and other tools, the coloring with powders and crystals and, last but not least, the glowing glass mass itself exert a special fascination. However, this craft is a very strenuous job: every glassmaker who goes about his work, takes his glass mass out of the red-hot furnace hole and forces it into the desired shape, knows how hard the art is.To ensure that the old glassmaking and glassmaking traditions are not forgotten, former glassmakers founded a regulars' table at the end of the 1990s and later the "Förderverein Glasstadt Bad Driburg". The association donated the glassmakers' memorial in the upper Lange Straße in memory of the glassmakers who worked in Bad Driburg for centuries.
