Gebäude Hörster Krug

Historic site
According to the treasury registers from 1488, at the beginning of the 16th century there were four more Kötterstellen in Hörste which belonged to Marienfeld Monastery. These are the farmsteads Mellies (later Ückermann), Brockmann, Schulte and Ostmann (Hörster Krug).

The name Ostmann is a local geographical name and means something like "the man who settled in the east of a settlement". In Hörste, the place of the name bearer is in the middle of the village, i.e. the settler must have already borne this name before settling there. His farm represents the first and probably oldest consolidation of the village center. The Hörster Krug has now been in the family for over 500 years.
