The cemetery forest, which covers around 68 hectares, is located in the "Nonnenbusch" forest area near Borchen-Dörenhagen. It was opened in July 2017 and is located directly on the Old Pilgrims' Path. Various deciduous tree species up to 160 years old grow in the area. These include beeches, maples, larches and oaks.
The central point of the cemetery forest is the tastefully designed place of worship with a cross made of acacia wood and a rock table weighing over four tons made of natural limestone from the Paderborn plateau. Solid wooden benches invite you to linger. There is a shelter and a (disabled-accessible) toilet at the parking lot.Guided tours of the cemetery forest are offered regularly. From the A 33, take the Borchen/Salzkotten exit:
Take the exit in the direction of Kirchborchen. At the traffic circle, take the second exit in the direction of Dörenhagen. After 600 meters, at the stop sign, keep right towards Dörenhagen. After about 6.3 kilometers, turn right onto an asphalt road towards "Etteln". After another 1.2 kilometers, at a crossroads, turn right into the parking lot of the cemetery forest.
From the B 68 (Paderborn-Lichtenau):
At the B 68 / K 1 junction, turn off towards Dörenhagen (not towards Dahl). Follow the K 1 (first Schlotmannstraße, then Kirchborchener Straße) through Dörenhagen. Keep in the direction of Kirchborchen. In a dip about one kilometer after the end of the village, turn left onto the asphalt road towards "Etteln". After another 1.2 kilometers, at a crossroads, turn right into the parking lot of the cemetery forest.
