Enjoy plays in Low German and High German at the Kahle Wart open-air stage in the idyllic Wiehengebirge mountains - located between the towns of Bünde and Lübbecke.
The Kahle Wart open-air stage in the idyllic Wiehengebirge mountains with its three original half-timbered houses provides the backdrop for plays in Low German and High German. The Oberbauerschaft local history association has been performing on the stage since 1948, combining tradition and modernity. Theater in Platt inspires - even those who no longer speak Platt quickly find access. High German plays and an active youth theater group enrich the stage play. The supporting program includes brass music from the Oberbauerschaft village band, recorder playing and traditional folk dancing. The local heritage association will provide refreshments. The stage is handicapped accessible. Performances start at 8 pm on Saturdays and 4 pm on Sundays.
The annual performance season begins at the beginning of June and runs until the end of August.
You are sure to enjoy the sounds of the Oberbauerschaft village band; a brass band in original Ravensberg linen weaving costume, with the red vests and black knee breeches. The folk dance group of the local heritage association also performs in this costume at every performance, bringing old Westphalian group dances back to life to the sound of the village band. The program also includes the recorder group, which performs folk songs as well as contemporary modern songs.
