The building, which looks like an upper-class villa in Wilhelmine style, was designed by the Berlin architect F. Gottlob. The prestigious building illustrates the importance assigned to the military in Wilhelmine Minden. After 1933, the SA Standarte 2 used the building. From 1962-85 it housed the town archives. The elaborate interior of the former social rooms has been largely preserved.
