Dorfplatz Getmold

The place name Getmold is traced back to the ending "mahal", which means meeting place. According to this, there must have been some kind of meeting place and court in Getmold in the Middle Ages - presumably today's village square in the heart of the village.

Getmold has a very active village community that has taken care of the village square and the village school built in 1860. This old chapel-style village school, built and restored in the neo-Gothic style, is now a village community center where a diverse program is offered by the village community.
