Tourist attractions – various
Since 2009, sculptor Brigitte Schröder has been creating archaic-looking sculptures made of stone, wood or bronze as part of the "10,000 Guardians for our World" project.
The guardian is a symbol of mindfulness and protection, a guardian of the harvest and nature and a guardian of life and death.
The design intends to connect with the original being, a reference to representations of past times and forgotten cultures.
Over 70 of these figures are spread across 14 countries and 5 continents in various locations - one of them in Vlotho on the church square.
The special thing about the Vlotho Guardian is the globe she holds in her hands. This symbolizes the diverse commitment of the citizens of Vlotho and how they connect with the world.
The guardian and her location on the church square invite everyone to linger and pause for a moment and at the same time offer space for social interaction.

The Vlotho guardian "to go" is available in a limited edition as a mug from Vlotho Marketing.
