The history of this beautiful house begins in 1699, when a great fire destroyed 43 buildings in Windheim, including farm no. 2, which was still standing near the church at the time. Straw roofing, half-timbered construction and the close-knit buildings in the center of the village repeatedly led to fires. As early as 1701, the continued existence of the farmstead, whose economic strength is expressed in "Numero2", was secured with a new building as a resettlers' farm in front of the Ostertor. The later expansion of the Weser village led to "Windheim No2" standing in the middle of the village today. After the farm was abandoned and stood empty for years, it was only just possible to prevent its demolition in 1998. Today's listed "Dorfkulturhaus" is one of the few remaining mighty three-storey buildings in the region. Today, it is home to the Westphalian Stork Museum with the Cafè No2 in the hallway and the secluded garden and also attracts visitors with events.
