It was a supplier for the cigar industry, which dominated Minden in the 19th century. A former packing house (Bartlingshof 9) was initially converted into a factory and a large production building was added in 1899. In 1930, the factory moved to Artilleriestraße. Sültemeyer's property is an example of a production facility that developed within the city walls during the fortress period (until 1873).
