Boule-Bahn im Stadtpark

funsport & games
The boules court at the town park can be played all year round.
Boules, the cult game from France, is also gaining more and more friends in Bad Driburg.

The rules - boules in 5 minutes

Boules (pétanque) can be played individually or in teams, i.e. as tête-à-tête (1 against 1 player), doublette  (2 against 2 players) or triplette (3 against 3 players).

The principle of the game is very simple:
The aim is to get as many of your own balls as possible closer to the target ball than your opponent. This target ball is also called a cochonnet (piggy). You can play from a crouching or standing position, roll the ball or play a "(half) porteé".
One player from the first team (drawn by a coin toss) throws the cochonnet out of the throwing circle to a distance of 6 - 10 meters and then tries to get as close as possible to the target ball with his first ball.
Then a player from the second team enters the circle and tries to get their ball closer to the target ball than the opponent's first ball.
If this seems hopeless because this ball is very well placed, an attempt is sometimes made to "shoot it away".
As soon as team 2 has a ball closer to the piggy, it is team 1's turn again.
If it is not clear which ball is closer, it is measured if necessary.
If team 2 does not manage to get closer than the best ball of team 1, team 2 must throw more balls until it has played the last ball and is "empty".
If a team has no more balls, the opposing team plays all its remaining balls.
The shot is over when all 12 balls (in doublette and triplette) or all 6 balls (in tête-à-tête) have been played.
A shot is won with as many points as there are balls from one team closer to the target ball than the opponent's best ball.
A minimum of 1 point is awarded in a shot, a maximum of 6 points can be scored.
The winner of the shot throws the piggy for the next round.
The team that reaches 13 points first is the winner. This can happen after 2 shots at the earliest and can last a maximum of 25 shots.

Have fun - allez les boules!
