Bleiwäscher Skulptur

Monument
Fountain
The sculpture on the main street of the town of Bleiwäsche depicts a “lead washer.” The town’s name reflects its history as a mining town. The lead and silver ores found here were “washed” here.

Bleiwäsche is the southernmost district of the city of Bad Wünnenberg and, at 480 m above sea level (“Schweinskopf”), boasts one of the highest elevations in the entire administrative district.

The sculpture weighs 2.2 metric tons and is intended to commemorate the history of the town, where people have been mining lead ore from the ground for centuries.
