Enjoy the wonderful view over the garden show grounds, the Obersee, the climbing park and Rietberg

If you climb the 18-metre-high viewing tower at the Obersee lake in the central part of the park, you will be rewarded with a unique, sweeping view over the park and the wetlands of the Rietberger Emsniederung nature reserve, which is important throughout Europe. With a bit of luck, you will be able to observe the small herd of water buffalo grazing in the nature reserve behind the Forum Natur. The wet meadows provide the water-loving animals with an ideal habitat. The buffalo enliven the biodiversity, keep the pasture short, eat woody growth and reeds and thus ensure that storks, great egrets and other rare birds can rest and breed there. In April 2015, the water buffalo, which are considered robust, moved into the park; the herd consists of the mother animals Dobbie and Daisy and their children.

Openings

The grounds of the Garden Show Park are open 365 days a year. In the summer season (from the beginning of the Easter vacations to the end of the fall vacations) daily from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. (stay until dusk). Different opening hours apply for special events. In the winter season (end of the fall vacations to the beginning of the Easter vacations), different opening hours (6 am - 7 pm) and reduced admission prices apply.
