Adolfstraße

Historic town centre
What to do when building land is scarce? Build on existing buildings! In the 17th century, a row of houses was built on and around the historic city wall in Adolfstrasse.

Adolfstraße is a special part of the historic old town of Detmold and runs directly along the former town wall. In the 17th century, due to a lack of space and money, small residential houses were built here on the inside of the wall and still form a closed, characteristic row of houses today.

The lovingly preserved and partially reconstructed half-timbered houses give the street its unique charm and make it a popular destination.
