A varied route awaits you on your tour through the Ravensberger Hügelland in the north of Bielefeld. The circular route takes you across meadows and through forests, but also through housing estates and along country roads, before finally exploring the charming landscape around the Obersee lake on the last part of the route.
Built in 1899, the small railway bridge over the Johannisbach was used by Bielefelder Kreisbahnen trains until 1956. Today, a cycle and hiking trail runs along the technical monument. Walk up the steps on the bridge pillar and enjoy the view of the stream and valley!
The Jöllenbeck outdoor pool has a solar-heated multi-purpose pool, a kiosk and a sunbathing area with mature trees. It invites you to swim, sunbathe and take a relaxing break under the shade of the trees.
The Hof Meyer zu Jerrendorf is the oldest settlement in today's Bielefeld district of Brake. Its origins date back to around the year 600. Today, the farm in the valley of the Johannisbach stream is home to the Brake Riding and Driving Club. Heck cattle are an attempt to breed back the extinct aurochs. The animals with their impressive horns can be seen all year round on the meadows of the Johannisbachaue. White storks have been breeding in the floodplain again since 2016.
The railway viaduct in Schildesche was built in 1847 and a bridge was added in 1917. Of the original 28 arches, 15 still remain. The total length of the viaduct is 400 meters. It has a height of 18 meters.
You are sure to find your favorite spot at the 15-hectare Obersee lake in the Schildesche district. And you can take a sporty break with mini golf, volleyball or disc golf. From Obersee (junction 94), it is worth taking a detour (0.5 km) to the center of Schildesche: in 936, the wealthy noblewoman Marswidis founded a convent south of the Johannisbach stream. The village of e, which has belonged to Bielefeld since 1930, grew up around the abbey estate. The Gothic collegiate church from the 13th century is dedicated to St. John the Baptist. Walk across the square by the collegiate church and through the small Johannisstraße and discover pretty half-timbered houses from the 17th and 18th centuries!Waypoints
