Espelkamp - Übers Land zum Schloss

This route invites you to enjoy a relaxed ride through the beautiful countryside to the west of Espelkamp. Starting from Wilhelm-Kern-Platz - the town center - the route leads through the northwestern residential areas to Kleihügel. You cross the forest and reach the Große Aue and the Kleihügel leisure and bathing lake. The route then continues along side roads past picturesque fields, meadows and old farmhouses to Fiestel and Benkhausen. A visit to the Gasthaus Rose is a good place to take a break. Here you also have the opportunity to play a round of farmer's golf. In Benkhausen, a historic building awaits the visitor - Benkhausen Castle. Today it is used as a training center and hotel. The former barn houses a museum of automata with some exhibits that are unique in Germany. A beautiful park, a hiking trail and a burial mound of the von dem Bussche-Münch family invite you to take a stroll. There is also a restaurant and a café with a beer garden at the castle. The last stage takes you back across the countryside, through Fabbenstedt to the Langen Horst area, where you can end the ride in one of the many restaurants.
