The area around Bad Driburg in the Teutoburg Forest / Eggegebirge Nature Park is wonderful to explore by bike. Towards the Weser, the cycle paths lead through flatter landscapes, which, with their architectural and cultural treasures, invite both leisurely cycle tours and sporty, ambitious cycling. This tour takes you through the old glassmaking village of Siebenstern via the Schmechten mead fountain and the LEONARDO headquarters in Herste to Alhausen.

This tour first takes you south to the glassmaking village of Siebenstern. Continue along the Katzbach stream to the mead fountain near Schmechten. The spring is a mineral sour that you can taste on site. A modern medical report certifies that the spring has healing properties for kidney problems, gout and stomach ulcers, to name just a few of its effects. The route continues past other springs, some of which are hidden in meadows and fields, to Herste. You cycle through the village and then parallel to the railroad tracks past the Ritzenhoff&Breker and glaskoch (Leonardo) glass companies.
The futuristic building of the Leonardo glasscube stands out from the industrial estate. You continue along the edge of the forest towards Alhausen, where you have the opportunity to visit the Friedrich-Wilhelm-Weber-Museum.
