If you want to create a bee-friendly garden, you should consider the entire year in your planning and design. Already in February, bees, bumblebees, and some wild bees need their first food. It is therefore important to provide bees and other insects with food and an optimal habitat during all vegetation periods. A bee-friendly garden should therefore be equipped with the appropriate flowers, plants, and shrubs that bloom consecutively throughout the year and continue to provide nourishment. Bees and insects are naturally delighted by a garden pond, but even a shallow dish with water and a few pebbles is appreciated. Insect hotels and dry stone walls planned with animal welfare in mind provide a safe shelter, particularly for wild bees, as do dry stems, compost heaps, dead wood, and sandy areas cleared of plants. I would like to show you some ideas and inspirations on this and other content and point out some pitfalls.
