Synopsis:
In the midst of his life, Paul Gompitz (Charly Hübner) decides to travel from Rostock to Syracuse, Sicily. Driven by the desire to follow in the footsteps of the poet Johann Gottlieb Seume, the idea evolves into a personal goal. But Paul lives in the GDR and thus behind a strictly guarded border that makes legal travel abroad nearly impossible. The plan cannot be carried out through official channels.
