Powerwanderung - Burg Sternberg

The Lippe Switzerland is waiting!

We start at the hiking parking lot Forellenhof

Through picturesque hollow paths, we go uphill. The Steinberg, at 396 m, is the highest mountain in North Lippe; it previously served as a rocket and radar site. You can't see any of that today, but the hiker enjoys a magnificent 360° panoramic view.

The hiking trails are sometimes very narrow and rooted, but the view over the Lippe Switzerland (Schwelentruper Basin) is breathtaking.

We pass by the archaeological monument "Alt Sternberg."

And again, we go up; the high castle Sternberg lives up to its name with about 300 m elevation gain.

A stage with a lot of nature and spectacular views.

Requirements: circular hike, good fitness for about 15 km of distance and about 300 m elevation gain, as well as good surefootedness for hiking trails and paths

Length: approx. 15 km

Pure walking time: approx. 3 hours

Speed: approx. 4.5-5 km/hour
