Where do our first names actually come from? We didn’t get to choose them. Sometimes parents are big fans of a favorite actress or like a famous athlete. But could the origin of the name actually be much older?

Exciting stories lie behind the names of the wooden and stone statues of saints at Wewelsburg Castle.

On the “Himmelswege” tour through the historic museum at Wewelsburg, the museum educator tells the story of Saint Roch, who contracted the plague and was healed by an angel in a secluded hut. You’ll also learn why the brave Knight George was canonized and how to recognize a saint.

Afterward, everyone works together to figure out when their own name day is.
