A dark journey into the time of witch hunts - now in the Bad Oeynhausen Fairytale Museum!
Over 100 original exhibits, real trial records & instruments of torture, magical symbols & devil animals and interactive stations.
Between 1450 and 1750, around 60,000 people fell victim to the witch craze. The church, cities and universities profited from this murderous justice. The exhibition shows how paranoia, superstition and the desire for power poisoned entire communities. And it asks: Where is the belief in witches still widespread today? An exhibition that gets under your skin. And connects the past with the present.
The exhibition can be seen from Wednesday to Sunday, from 11 am to 1 pm and 2 pm to 6 pm.
Suitable for adults and brave children aged 10 and over. The exhibition was curated by Dr. Stefan Meyer from Rinteln.
