Guided tour/tour
This city tour focuses on the history of Lübbeck's cemetery. People have been buried in the Lübbeck cemetery since 1839. As it has been a communal cemetery since the beginning, anyone can be buried here regardless of their denomination.
It is a reflection of how the cemetery culture has changed over the course of time in terms of design, from the strictly geometric layout at the opening to the open park landscape of the last extension in 1998. We can find all forms of burial here, from representative family graves to urn graves under a tree. Burials according to Muslim tradition are also possible. A separate burial ground is reserved for this. A special theme is the many different symbols that we encounter in this cemetery and that relate to death and resurrection.
