Candlelight Concert: “Coldplay & Pop Crossover”

Over 4,000 LED candles, a concert grand piano delivered especially for the event, and live piano arrangements combine familiar melodies with a special atmosphere. The early concert focuses on Disney and film music; later in the evening, Coldplay and other pop music take center stage.

Pianists Melanie Peoska and Filip Peoski jointly design and organize the candlelight concerts. Their goal is to make expressive piano music accessible in an intimate setting. To achieve this, they combine musical preparation with the selection of a suitable instrument, the design of the space, and the creation of the lighting design.

Candlelight concerts are a popular contemporary concert format: familiar pop melodies and film scores take on a new sound when performed on the piano. In the warm glow of the LED candles, powerful and emotional passages give way to quiet, almost meditative moments. These evenings invite you to step away from everyday life for an hour, listen attentively, and experience familiar music from a different perspective.

In “Disney & Film Music,” Melanie Peoska interprets melodies from the world of Disney and film. In “Coldplay & Pop,” Filip Peoski focuses on the music of Coldplay and other international pop songs. These are two distinct programs with different musical focuses, united by live piano music and the special atmosphere of candlelight.

The series is driven by a desire to bring high-quality candlelight concerts to smaller cities, towns, and neighborhoods. The series has made stops in Osnabrück, Paderborn, Lippstadt, and Rheda-Wiedenbrück, as well as in Hagen and Hilter near the Teutoburg Forest. WDR and NDR have already covered the concert series; NDR featured it on “Nordtour.”
