The "Ressource" (renamed "Gesellschaft zur Weserklause" in 1915), founded in 1788 by members of Minden's upper class, initially owned a house on the market square (no. 22). The Minden architect August Kelpe designed the neo-Baroque building with a painterly silhouette as part of the building group with the government and district house. The representative public rooms such as the banqueting hall, dining room and library were located on the mezzanine floor, while all service rooms were housed in the basement. In the spacious gardens on the former fortress grounds, part of the fortress moat became the "swan pond".
