Wasserreservoir Pfeifenkump

Fountain
The Pfeifenkumpbrunnen is the historic water reservoir of the town of Horn.
The supply of good drinking water was of great importance for the infrastructure of a town. As early as 1546, a pipeline led from Bornsberg to the various "Kümpen" (well basins) in the town. Significant parts of the buildings mentioned, in particular the ashlar building decoration, were made from the high-quality Osning sandstone, which came from quarries near the town. This material, which is typical of the area, is a characteristic feature of the townscape and also characterizes other buildings and facilities.
