The source of the town water is located only approx. 900 m from the town center on the opposite slope of the Mörth.

Whereby the Lippebach stream lies at the lowest point in between, which had to be bridged or bypassed. However, before the city water could be tapped, it had to be clarified whether there was a sufficient gradient from the source.

According to tradition, technically skilled monks from the Cistercian order were consulted, who were on site during the construction of the Burghagen monastery. A simple dipstick measurement determined that the spring was higher than the village of Schwalenberg.

Some people still suspect today that the water runs uphill.
