OUR HISTORY

In 1956, Mr. and Mrs. Rusche founded the first SØR store in the East Westphalian linen weaving town of Bielefeld. Over the years, this first branch developed into probably the best-known men's outfitter in Germany.

At the beginning of 2020, the ownership structure of the SØR company was reorganized. After sixty years, the Rusche family handed over the family business to Bonavest GmbH. The new owner set itself the goal of modernizing SØR and preparing it for the challenges to be expected in the course of digitalization and to re-establish itself as one of the top addresses in German specialist retail.

The former 60 stores have become 25 (24 of which are brick-and-mortar stores) and one online store. The stores are spread across Germany. You can find SØR not only in the north at the island locations on Sylt or Norderney, but also in the major cities of Hamburg, Hanover and Berlin, as well as in the far south of Germany in Rottach-Egern, Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Oberstdorf.

In 2021, the company underwent an extensive and intensive renovation phase. Today, all stores shine in a new, contemporary style. The product range has been upgraded and is aimed more at brand-conscious customers who value trends and quality.

The online store has also been adapted to meet today's requirements of a multi-channel retailer. In addition to traditional online shopping, www.soer.de also offers modern service aspects such as Click & Reserve or Click & Collect. This gives every customer the certainty that their desired item is also available in the store.

SØR attaches great importance to the topic of sustainability because SØR is aware of its responsibility for future generations and pays particular attention to a verifiable supply chain and the sustainability of raw materials when selecting products. SØR will continue its efforts with the aim of becoming one of the most modern multi-channel retailers in Germany.
