A donkey, a dog, a cat, and a rooster have stood in front of the community center in Delbrück-Boke since 2025, serving as a reminder of the town’s connection to the fairy tale “The Bremen Town Musicians.” According to tradition, August von Haxthausen heard the story more than 200 years ago at what was then the Schwanenkrug inn in Boke. It later found its way to the Brothers Grimm and was included in the second edition of their “Children’s and Household Tales” in 1819.
The sheet-steel sculpture was installed in 2025 at the entrance to the community center’s parking lot. A bench and an information plaque complete the site. A QR code provides access to additional information and audio files about the story of the Bremen Town Musicians.
