Flora and fauna in the Oppenweher Moor

The moor is characterized by its vegetation, which is typical of raised bogs. In spring and summer, the moor heath blooms here and rare plants such as the sundew, a carnivorous plant, can also be discovered. Peat mosses grow in the damp areas of the moor, which play a key role in the formation of the moor.

The moor also provides a habitat for various bird species, including cranes, snipes and whinchats. The adder and moor frog are also at home here. For nature enthusiasts, it is an ideal place for birdwatching and nature photography.

Hiking trails through the Oppenweher Moor

There are various hiking trails that lead through the Oppenweher Moor. The paths are well signposted and offer visitors the opportunity to experience the moor up close. A highlight of the hike is the wooden plank path, which leads directly through the moorland and offers an undisturbed view of the impressive moor landscape.
