The former forester's house above this pump—which burned down during a thunderstorm one night in 1880—was home to Friedrich August Noak, a forester in the service of State Secretary Wilhelm Tilly and his heir, Wilhelm Benteler zu Benteler. The Noak Pump is named after him.
Noak was born on July 30, 1821, in Lübben in the Spreewald and died on May 8, 1884.
