The picturesque Aatal nature trail in Bad Wünnenberg—surrounded by forests and rolling hills—stretches from the spa park, along the Aa River, all the way to the imposing Aabach Dam.

Bad Wünnenberg Spa Park

The spa park is located right next to the Aatal Clinic. The park invites visitors to take a short stroll through the blooming flower beds and among the diverse array of trees.

The paths in the Spa Park are wheelchair-accessible. Numerous benches offer a place to rest while enjoying the view of the spreading trees and green spaces. During the summer months, spa concerts are held in the band shell. The annual Spa Park Festival consistently attracts large crowds.

Barefoot Adventure Trail

Over a distance of more than one kilometer, you can experience up close a refreshing stream, warm bark mulch, sand, fine and coarse pebbles, muddy clay, or simply bare grass—all while walking barefoot.

A 36-meter-long wooden boardwalk running through a marshland offers a fantastic view of the idyllic Aatal Valley. Crossing a suspension bridge over the Aabach to the clay wading pool and back through a rope-secured ford is a highlight—not just for children. The natural foot reflexology massage awakens all the senses, and nature is experienced in a whole new way. The trail starts and ends next to the Aatal-Haus. Here, the rule is: “Shoes and socks off…” A shelf is provided for the shoes you’ve taken off. Since this is also the end point, a water pump allows you to wash and refresh your feet after the walk.

Slope Slide

The 35-meter-long “Big Sam” hillside slide winds its way down through the forest in curves between the Hassel River and the paddling pond. The tunnel slide covers a 15-meter elevation difference. The stainless-steel slide is accessible via the footpath above the paddling pond as well as from the hiking trail (an extension of the Tannenweg).

Low-Rope Course

The low ropes course in the Aatal valley in Bad Wünnenberg is a perfect destination for families, friends, and groups who love nature and adventure. Nestled in the idyllic landscape of the Aatal valley, the ropes course offers an exciting mix of fun, exercise, and challenge.

Here, visitors can test their agility and balance on various rope elements mounted just above the ground—ideal for beginners and children, but also for adults who want to tackle the challenges together. The low ropes course fosters team spirit and is excellent for group activities in the great outdoors.

Kneipp Oasis in the Aatal

A beautifully situated Kneipp facility in the Aatal Nature Experience area featuring foot and arm pools. Find peace and relaxation at the “Kneipp Oasis.” A walk through the water treading pool is pleasantly refreshing and ensures optimal blood circulation in the legs, in accordance with “Kneipp’s theory of health.” At the small natural pond, you can relax wonderfully on the comfortable wooden loungers while listening to the gentle lapping of the water.

Paddling Pond with Fishing

The paddling pond is located in the Aatal Nature Experience area and, in addition to its beautiful atmosphere, offers many opportunities to actively enjoy nature. A small, paved loop trail around the paddling pond invites you to take a leisurely stroll.

The paddling pond is encircled by the barefoot adventure trail and offers beautiful views of the small body of water. Numerous benches and lounge chairs provide opportunities to relax and enjoy a fantastic view of the water. Watch the ducks swim or simply enjoy the peace and quiet!

The children’s playground features a climbing frame, suspension bridges, and swings. In the small stream right next to the playground, you can splash around in the water and cool off. The spacious meadows are perfect for a picnic.

Anglers will also find plenty to enjoy here: With a valid fishing license, you can fish at the Paddelteich using two rods with a day pass for 10 €. Day passes are available at Schuhhaus Bernard (Mittelstraße 18) and at the Aatal-Haus.

Wildlife Enclosures

The spacious animal enclosures near the barefoot trail and the paddling pond are home to goats, sheep, red deer, and fallow deer. The animals are used to being around people and therefore often come very close to the fence. There, you can feed them and sometimes even pet them. Feed is available right at the enclosure for just €1.

Children’s Playground

The children’s playground features a climbing frame, suspension bridges, and swings. In the small stream right next to the playground, you can splash around in the water and cool off. The expansive meadows are perfect for a picnic.

Acoustic Play Equipment

Right next to the Kneipp Oasis, acoustic play equipment offers a special sensory experience for young and old alike. The humming stone really gets you in the groove, and the listening shell lets you listen closely to what the surroundings have to offer.

Disc Golf

The disc golf course is a sporting challenge for everyone. With a little skill and the right technique, you’ll hit the baskets! The relaxing exercise in the great outdoors, combined with plenty of fun, makes this sport a special experience for the whole family!
