The picturesque Aatal nature experience in Bad Wünnenberg extends - surrounded by forests and rolling hills - from the spa park, along the Aa river, to the mighty Aabach dame.

Kurpark Bad Wünnenberg

The spa park is located right next to the Aatal Clinic. The park invites you to take a short stroll through the flower beds and diverse tree population.

The paths in the spa park are suitable for wheelchair users. Numerous benches offer the opportunity to take a break with a view of the sprawling trees and green areas. Spa concerts take place in the music shell during the summer months. The annual spa park festival always attracts numerous visitors.

Barefoot adventure trail

A refreshing stream, warming bark mulch, sand, fine and coarse pebbles, muddy clay or simply pure grass - barefoot - can be experienced up close over a length of more than one kilometer.

A 36-metre-long wooden boardwalk through the middle of a marshland offers a fantastic view of the idyllic Aatal valley. Crossing a suspension bridge over the Aabach stream to the clay treading pool and back through a rope-secured ford is not just a highlight for children. The natural foot zone reflex massage awakens all the senses and nature is experienced in a new way. The start and finish is next to the Aatal House. The motto here is: "Shoes and socks off...". There is a shelf ready for you to take off your shoes. As this is also the end point, a water pump offers the opportunity to wash off and refresh your feet after the walk.

Slope slide

The 35-metre-long "Big Sam" slope slide winds its way down the forest in curves between the Hassel and the paddling pond, overcoming a height difference of 15 meters on the tunnel slide. The stainless steel slide can be reached via the footpath above the paddling pond and from the hiking trail (extension of the Tannenweg).

Kneipp oasis in the Aatal

Beautifully located Kneipp facility in the Aatal nature experience with treading and arm pools. Find peace and relaxation at the "Kneipp oasis". A walk in the water treading pool is pleasantly refreshing and ensures optimal blood circulation in the legs according to the "Kneipp theory of health". At the small natural pond, you can relax on the comfortable wooden loungers to the sound of the rippling water.

Paddling pond

The paddling pond is located in the Aatel nature experience and offers a beautiful atmosphere and many opportunities to actively enjoy nature. A small, asphalted circular path around the paddling pond invites you to take a leisurely stroll.

The paddling pond is circled once by the adventure barefoot path and offers beautiful views of the small body of water. Numerous benches and loungers offer the opportunity to relax and enjoy a fantastic view of the water. Watch the ducks swim or simply enjoy the peace and quiet!

The children's playground offers a climbing frame, suspension bridges and swing elements. You can splash around in the water and refresh yourself in the small stream right next to the playground. The extensive meadows are ideal for picnics. Anglers get their money's worth here. With a valid fishing license, you can fish for €10 with 2 rods at the paddling pond. You can buy day passes at Schuhhaus Bernard (Mittelstraße 18) and at the Aatal-Haus.

Wildlife enclosures

The extensive animal enclosures near the barefoot path and paddle pond are home to goats, sheep, red deer and fallow deer. The animals are used to being close to humans and therefore often come very close to the fence. You can feed them there and sometimes even stroke them. The food is available directly at the enclosure for just €1.

Carriage rides

Carriage rides are offered in the Aatal on Sunday afternoons in good weather. They start at the "pony station" next to the wild animal enclosure, just a few steps away from the "Aatalhaus".

Children's playground

The children's playground offers a climbing frame, suspension bridges and swings. You can splash around in the water and refresh yourself in the small stream right next to the playground. The extensive meadows invite you to have a picnic.

Acoustic play equipment

Right next to the Kneipp oasis, acoustic play equipment offers a special sensory experience for young and old. The humming stone really gets you vibrating and the earpiece lets you listen closely to what the surroundings are hiding.

Disc golf

The disc golf course is a sporting challenge for everyone. With a little skill and the right technique, you can hit the baskets! The relaxed exercise in the great outdoors with lots of fun make this sport a special experience for the whole family!

At the traffic lights in the center of Bad Wünnenberg, turn into Mittelstraße. After approx. 200 m, turn right into the street "im Aatal". In front of the Kurklinik, turn left into the street "In den Erlen", where you will find plenty of parking spaces.
