Museum/Exhibition
Following the renovation of the former fire station around 1991, the Dechenheim has been located in the building on Brückenstraße ever since. During the Easter holidays, the Dechenheim Lügde is open and provides lots of information about the traditional Easter bike run in Lügde.
The term "Dechen" or "Deche" dates back to the Middle Ages. A church record from 1410 mentions church dechen. These had the task of supervising all rites and customs, i.e. "supervisors of customs".

In the course of the Christianization of the fire wheel run to the Easter wheel run, this term was transferred to the practitioners of this old custom.

The Dechenverein Lügde is the organizer of the Easter wheel run in Lügde and the keeper of a historical custom of the forefathers. It has around 600 members, who carry out the countless tasks required to keep the tradition alive.
