The unique feature of the model railway housed in the 675 square metre hall is its strict authenticity. While elsewhere a locomotive shed with a turntable is often just an accessory with no function, the treatment tracks are operated realistically down to the last detail. Steam locomotives stop for slag removal, coaling and water intake before travelling on the turntable and spending the night in the roundhouse.
Day and night alternate every 25 minutes. During the day, the depiction of the cultural landscape is striking: Forests, meadows and fields are depicted so convincingly and harmoniously that they do not look like decoration, but are convincing as a theme. Viewers find observation points that draw them into the landscape and railway operations. Highlights for guests of all ages are the push-button activities. Eyes light up when the fire brigade is called out to extinguish a fire or a tree is felled to the sound of a chainsaw.
