The Lage-Hameln railroad line via Lemgo and Dörentrup was completed in 1897. Freight trains were still running when passenger services ceased in 1980. The Landeseisenbahn Lippe e.V. association has maintained the line on a voluntary basis since 2005 and runs monthly regional trips between Extertal-Bösingfeld and Dörentrup.
