Kneipp pool/water treading

The treading pool in the Empertal valley in Leiberg is beautifully surrounded by meadows and forests. It's well worth taking a break from hiking or cycling with a refreshing footbath. Seating areas invite you to take in and enjoy the natural surroundings.

The treading pool was completely redesigned with natural stone in 2007. The treading pool is fed by fresh spring water from the Olweke stream.

The treading pool in Empertal is one of a series of treading pools belonging to the town of Bad Wünnenberg. There are seven treading basins in total, each of which has a water marsh. Each water marsh has a thematic focus (here: Leiberger Krautbund), which is part of Sebastian Kneipp's holistic health concept. From summer 2010, a "Kneipp water walk" will take you through Leiberg and past the treading pool. Here you can learn about the tradition of herb bundling and the effects of the medicinal herbs and plants used for it.
