The large house with a solid ground floor and half-timbered upper floor is clearly different in size and shape from other town houses of the time. After 1660, it was initially used by high-ranking government officials and then came into private ownership.
A narrow extension was added to the building in front of the west gable at the end of the 18th century. Above its first floor windows are two coat of arms stones of the von Amelunxen family, although their connection to the building remains unclear to this day.

A little hidden between two department stores is the passageway to Johanniskirchhof, which is dominated by the former collegiate church of St. Johannis Evangelista. In the 1980s, the former church became home to the Johanniskirchhof community center, or BÜZ for short, which forms an important cultural hub in the Weser city with concerts, cabaret and many other events and uses.
