The permanent exhibition provides information about the German waterway network and the importance of the environmentally friendly, cost-effective and safe inland waterway/waterway transport system using written and picture walls, video films, computers and a large number of models. Information is also provided on the maintenance of the waterways and the operation of shipping facilities such as locks, pumping stations and safety gates.
One part of the exhibition is dedicated to the Minden waterway junction, the Mittelland Canal and the Weser. Information on energy generation, the extraction of industrial and agricultural water from the waterways, recreational boating and the tasks and organization of the Waterways and Shipping Administration round off the exhibition.
Brochures and leaflets with further information are available at the information center. The staff at the information center will be happy to provide information during the tour.
