Museum/Exhibition
Charm of the past
The Hussar Museum is a small museum that exhibits uniforms and equipment belonging to Rittmeister Adolf Freiherr von Spiegel as well as a number of permanent loans, such as original items from other hussar regiments from the imperial era and from the 18th and 19th centuries.
In honour of Adolf Freiherr von Spiegel v.u.z. Peckelsheim (1875 - 1956), the long-time owner of Rheder Castle, the Hussar Museum was opened in the outer bailey in November 2003. He was cavalry captain of the Prussian Hussar Regiment No. 8 "Tsar Nicholas II" and also took part in the First World War in this role.
