The Höxter Botanical Garden combines exemplary ecological diversity with horticultural and design requirements over an area of four hectares. Around 2,000 plant species and varieties are planted according to their location.
The garden is not only a species-rich botanical collection and an important place of teaching and learning for the environmental studies programmes at the TH OWL at the Höxter campus, but also a landscaped park for those seeking relaxation who want to enjoy the varied design and the panoramic view over the Weser Valley and Solling.
As a place of active research, current issues of garden design and plant utilisation as well as questions relating to biodiversity and design, sustainable, low-maintenance and aesthetic design are dealt with here. The search for answers to these questions, also with regard to climate resilience and the promotion of insects, as well as the screening of new and proven varieties is made accessible to interested visitors. The constantly expanding digital orientation system makes plantings thematically accessible and provides all relevant information on the most important plants via QR code.
