Museum/Exhibition
This typical Lügde farmhouse was built in 1799. It has been open to the public as a local history museum since 1987.
The building, which has housed the local history museum since 1987, was built in 1799 and is a typical and characteristic farmhouse for Lügde, which impresses with its simple, economical construction - a reflection of the times. At times, up to 21 people lived here with their livestock and stored provisions under one roof. Just two years before it was built, the largest fire in the town had broken out here.

In 1982, the town of Lügde acquired the old uninhabited farmhouse at "Hintere Straße 86". With the help of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, it financed the renovation and conversion of the building into a museum of local history under the guidance of the Westphalian Museum Office in Münster.

The Förderverein Lügde e.V. - founded specifically to create a museum of local history in Lügde - took on all the manual work involved in the realization of the project free of charge. On October 10/11, 1987, after 7987 hours of work, the museum of local history was opened to the public.

The museum building is a four-storey house and belongs to the family of Low German hall houses. The walls were built using half-timbered construction, the individual compartments were woven with willow rods and filled with clay from Lügdes Feldmark. During the renovation, red sandstone slabs were used for the decking, as was customary for wealthy landlords. The three-aisled longitudinal division of the building is also typical of the four-column design.

Today's museum of local history presents the following themes: rural customs and crafts, the history of the town and historical industries.
